Excellence In Concrete Awards

The 2025 ACI Maryland Chapter’s “Excellence in Concrete Construction” Awards celebrates Maryland’s innovation and excellence from projects from January 2023 through December 2024. Now more than ever, concrete design and construction must integrate creative techniques and technologies to keep up with ever-evolving economic, environmental, and aesthetic demands. The Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards continues to provide the perfect platform to recognize these exceptional concrete projects from across the state. Please use the form below to submit your projects.
Projects will be judged in the following 8 categories:
  1. LOW-RISE STRUCTURES – Buildings up to three (3) stories residential (multi-family and houses), school, commercial, warehouse and industrial, etc.
  2. MID-RISE STRUCTURES - Buildings four (4) to fifteen (15) stories.
  3. HIGH-RISE STRUCTURES – Buildings more than fifteen (15) stories.
  4. BRIDGES – A Structure carrying a road, path, railroad, or canal across a river, ravine, road, railroad, or other obstacle.
  5. DECORATIVE - Decorative or architectural feature or element such as exterior or interior finishes, hardscape, ornamentation, stained, stamped, or polished concrete, art installations, etc.
  6. FLATWORK - Pavements, parking lots, overlays, runways, taxiways, commercial/industrial floors, etc.
  7. INFRASTRUCTURE - Basic facilities or systems serving a region or community, such as tunnels, roads, recreation, site, water, power resources, marine structures, etc.
  8. REPAIR & RESTORATION - Any type of concrete structure, overlays, rehabilitation, remodel, retrofitting, etc.

Selected projects are recognized from across the industry in Maryland.

Call for Proctors

Are you Certified for ACI CFTTG1? Are you a Proctor or do you want to be?

We need Proctors November - December 2025 and into the new year as well! 

If you are able to help out for a few hours once a month on a Wednesday, let us know…you will be compensated!

PPE will be required to enter the concrete plant property. Proper PPE consists of Hard Hat, Safety Vest, Steel Toe Shoes, and Safety Glasses.

Scholarships

The ACI Foundation is serving the concrete industry by establishing and distributing fellowships and scholarships to high potential students in concrete-related graduate and undergraduate degree programs. This year the ACI Foundation has 48 awards available!

Students MUST be enrolled in a full-time, concrete program, for the fall 2026- spring 2027 academic year.

December 3, 4, 9, and 11: ACI 318-25: Changes to the Concrete Design Standard (1:00 - 3:00 PM EST)

 

This four-part virtual seminar series covers the major changes in the 2025 edition of ACI 318, “Building Code for Structural Concrete—Code Requirements and Commentary”. This edition is the first edition of ACI 318 in 6 years. All major changes in this edition of the code will be presented and discussed. This includes major changes centered around the topics of the addition of post-installed reinforcing bars, anchorage of closely spaced bars, clarified and updated one-way shear provisions, clarified and expanded seismic requirements, the new sustainability and resilience appendix, the new performance-based wind design appendix and numerous other changes.
